The content of gardenia glycoside in Eucommia ulmoides and Gardenia jasminoides is relatively high, reaching about 3-8%. Since Gardenia jasminoides is easy to cultivate and has a large yield, the production of genipin mainly uses Gardenia jasminoides as raw material. Genipin has multiple biological activities, including anti-tumor, anti-inflammatory, immunosuppressive, anti-thrombotic and other effects, and also helps maintain the health of the nervous system.
