Main Components of Loquat Leaf Extract

The main functional ingredients in loquat leaves are triterpenoids, flavonoids, polyphenols, polysaccharides and volatile oils.

1. Triterpenoids

There are abundant types of total triterpenoid acids in loquat leaves, mainly ursolic acid, oleanolic acid and corosolic acid. The optimal process conditions for extracting total triterpenoid acids are: extraction time 2h, extraction temperature 75℃, extraction times 2 times, extraction solvent 80% and solid-liquid ratio 1:4.

2. Flavonoids

The flavonoids in loquat leaves are mainly kaempferol, quercetin, 3,5,7-trihydroxyflavone, hesperidin, etc. The best process for extracting flavonoids from loquat leaves is pH=8.0, temperature is 100℃, and time is 105min. Under this condition, the flavonoid content in the extract is 0.979ml/mL.

3.Polyphenols

Loquat leaves are rich in polyphenols. Under the optimal process conditions (solid-liquid ratio 1:20, ethanol concentration 50%, temperature 60℃, extraction time 2.5h), the extraction rate of loquat leaf polyphenols is 3.4%.

4. Other

Loquat leaves also contain polysaccharides, organic acids, volatile oils and other ingredients. The polysaccharides in loquat leaves are complex polysaccharides containing proteins, among which the neutral monosaccharides are mainly fructose, glucose, mannose, rhamnose and galactose. The optimal extraction conditions for polysaccharides are extraction time of 2.95h, extraction temperature of 41℃, enzyme dosage of 15.6mg/g, and the obtained polysaccharide extraction rate is 8.03%.
